I make use of environmental sound within much of my creative work and am a keen field recordist as a result. My sound library offers me a palette to work form when creating interactive environments, soundscapes and compositions and I find perspective fascinating within this, particularly when the opportunity arises to capture contrasting sound-views and move between these fluidly.
Most of the sounds I record become part of larger sound-pieces so this small Sound Gallery offers a range of recordings in isolation as individual sound moments. There are notes below just offering a little background on the locations and recording approaches.
Some of the mill recordings were captured on excursions into Derbyshire with Leeds-based sound artist Paul Ratcliffe and we are currently working on bringing our separate perspectives together into a suite of sound pieces.
